 Shy, failing magician Corky finally finds success with a ventriloquist act featuring a dummy called Fats. With a shot at the big time on the horizon the pressure gets the better of him however and in a panic he flees the city back to the security of his hometown. When he reunites with an old high school flame Fats takes on a life of his own with devastating consequences.
